Updates

Over the summer, each pillar of the Executive Leadership Team — led by Rick Van Kooten and Stacy Morrone — met weekly alongside community subject matter experts to transform goals and objectives into a series of actionable steps — sub-steps included.

Executive Leadership Team 2030 Members

From an annual experiential learning opportunity for every undergraduate to enhancing grant-seeking infrastructure for faculty, what we will see in the implementation of each goal is stronger partnerships within the university and broader community connections.

Likewise apparent across the breadth of the implementation framework is the opportunity and incentive for all members of this campus community to engage in innovation and entrepreneurship. Each action is aimed at lasting impact, as service reliably interweaves with student success, research, and creative activity.

Next steps

Much of the work outlined in the implementation framework will kick off this fall, but before that can happen, the plan must undergo review by university leadership, subject area advisors, and deans. Once finalized, each element of implementation will be assigned to individuals and working groups as appropriate.

Subject Area Advisors

  • Julie Payne-Kirchmeier, vice president for student success
  • Russell Mumper, vice president for research
  • J T. Forbes, president and CEO of IU Foundation
  • Hannah Buxbaum, vice president for international affairs
  • Michael Huber, vice president for university relations

The implementation team is also collaborating with Institutional Analytics to construct a dashboard that ensures timely measurement of progress, as well as a system of accountability for teams tasked with realizing our shared aspirations.

Completed: The Campus Planning Phase

Countless members of our campus community have played an integral role in the IUB 2030 strategic plan since October 2022. Over 450 faculty, staff and students contributed their time, energy, and ideas to the process, strategizing and dreaming about the future of IU Bloomington in the areas of student success and opportunity, transformative research and creativity, and service to the state of Indiana and beyond.

Additionally, many members of our community submitted their thoughts and ideas through the IUB 2030 online feedback forms, attended town halls, and participated in focus groups across campus. This input from across campus was vital to the development of the plan and was essential as we begin the implementation phase of IUB 2030.

As the campus phase comes to a close, we will look to the exciting part of IUB 2030: bringing the plan to life. There is much to be proud of at IU Bloomington, and so much promise as IUB 2030 shapes and strengthens our campus over the next seven years and beyond.

We enter our third century at a moment of historic opportunity for Indiana University Bloomington. Our future looks bright as we prepare to build on longstanding strengths; create a more distinctive and meaningful student experience; elevate research and innovation; and foster a better future for our state and world.
