Planning Process

IUB 2030 Strategic Planning Process

The IUB 2030 planning process was inclusive of our full community, transparent, collaborative, equity-minded, innovative, strengths-based, and future-focused. Nearly 450 faculty, staff, student, and community participants from across the IU Bloomington campus volunteered to serve on committees. Membership was spread across an executive committee, planning committees, and working groups, and all IU community members were invited to provide feedback through online forms and town hall discussions.

A campuswide effort

Executive committee

The executive committee included wide participation from an array of faculty, students, staff, alumni, community partners, and other key constituencies. It was supported by multiple working groups of highly engaged stakeholders with knowledge and experience relevant to their charge.

Planning committees

Each core strategic area was associated with a planning committee that was led by a team of co-chairs who provided leadership and coordination across working groups. The co-chairs also participated in working groups to ensure the cross-pollination of ideas.

Working groups

Each working group conducted weekly meetings and was composed of leaders and stakeholders with experience and knowledge relevant to their charge. They sought input from broad and diverse stakeholder groups, focused on developing measurable objectives, strategic actions, and metrics appropriate to their area of focus, and submitted draft and final reports to the relevant planning committee co-chairs.
